ArtoGraphics Gallery is located in Suomalainen House, the former residence and studio of the late Canadian artist Sami Suomalainen. This unique location offers visitors the chance to explore Sami’s house and engage with his art as he intended it to be experienced. Sami’s mastery of multiple media and painting styles are mirrored in his unique home, which simultaneously served as his studio, gallery and residence for four decades, showcasing his unique visual language. Suomalainen House has been carefully preserved as a Toronto cultural landmark and Sami’s painting studio remains exactly as he left it when he passed away, with his final unfinished works on permanent display. Exhibits include a rotational display of Sami’s paintings and artwork, as well as family photos, scrapbooks and his working notes and sketches. These archival materials that provide insights into Sami’s creative process and the factors that influenced the development of his unique painting style.
